Strategies Supported with the Use of Nearpod

Brainstorming

Students can share a variety of ideas or information on a given topic or question using Nearpod’s Collaborate Board and Slides.

Case Studies 

Students can work collaboratively to investigate problems. They can research, draw conclusions and communicate their findings in Slides or on a Collaborate Board. The teacher can use Nearpod’s media, such as Web Content and BBC videos, to share information with students.

Collaborative Learning

Students are encouraged to work collaboratively to show off their work using Nearpod’s engaging

media. They can work together in Slides or on a Collaborate Board to produce their work.

Concept Maps

Students can visually represent information using Nearpod’s Draw It, Drag and Drop,

Slides or Collaborate Board. They can complete charts, graphic organizers, tables or Venn Diagrams.

Differentiated Learning 

Teachers can use the range of media and activities in Nearpod to provide personalized instruction opportunities in order to meet the individual needs of students.

Discussion

Students and teachers can engage in meaningful discussion after viewing videos and immediate results from polls, collaborative boards, etc.

Field Trip

Students can go anywhere in the world with a variety of VR images in Nearpod’s VR Field Trips.

 

Flipped Classroom 

Students can be given videos and other activities before class. In class, students complete tasks related to the homework that was given while the teacher acts as facilitator.

Game Based Learning

In Nearpod students are engaged with games to achieve specific learning objectives. These include Time to Climb, Drag and Drop and Matching Pairs.



Gamification 

Nearpod’s Time to Climb activity integrates game-based characteristics such as points, leaderboards and competition to motivate students.

Problem Based Learning

Small groups of students can work collaboratively to analyze and resolve specific problems. The students apply their understanding of the concepts to solve problems. Students are eager to solve problems with Nearpod’s Math Manipulatives. Teachers can also create interesting Quizzes and Games and Interactive Video with questions that encourage students to find solutions to problems.

Project Based Learning

Students work collaboratively in groups to research activities and share ideas. Each child then completes the required task.

Simulation

Students can interact with Nearpod’s Math and Science simulations.

Teachers can add slides that give students unique experiences manipulating simulations.

  2. Using this information I have a clear understanding of how teachers can create new lessons or enhance existing lessons. Also, lessons can be delivered at a set pace therefore increasing student motivation and lending to more active learning. I cannot wait to try out the virtual field trip in my next lesson.
