Nearpod is a website and digital tool for creating and delivering interactive lessons, presentations, formative or summative assessments and other educational content.
Nearpod has a library of pre-made lessons, videos and activities. The lessons combine engaging media with collaborative ways for students to show off how much they have learned. These can be customized to meet the unique needs of the students. Teachers can upload resources, such as PowerPoints, Google slides, videos, worksheets and other curriculum resources.
Students are engaged with interactive slides, interactive video, gamification and activities. These include Time to Climb, Drive, Drag-and-Drop, virtual reality field-trips, interactive Physics Labs and 3D models.
Teachers can select from several teaching modes to deliver a lesson.
In live participation mode the teacher controls the pace and students participate on their devices either in person or virtually.
In student paced mode students move through and participate on their own whether they are working from home or in class.
With live to student paced mode the teacher can switch between live and student paced lesson delivery to differentiate for student needs and address any misconceptions.
With front of class mode the teacher can use Nearpod to facilitate collaborative discussions without student devices.
Assessing student learning is easy with Nearpods’ formative assessments, such as Polls, Open-Ended Questions and Draw-Its. Teachers can create active video experiences with built-in interactive questions to check for understanding. Teachers are able to unlock student understanding in real-time and have reports to inform the next day's instruction.
Teachers can use the formative assessments and dynamic media experiences in Nearpod to guide teaching, adapt instruction, differentiate and improve student outcomes.
